FINANCIAL AID FRIDAYS: UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO TIP SHEET
April 11, 2008
Scholarships and Other Financial Aid
MOSCOW, Idaho – A little bit of research, a little bit of organization and plain old perseverance can pay off when it comes to financial aid and scholarships. Dan Davenport, director of financial aid at the University of Idaho, says it’s never too late to think about financial aid even as the school year comes to a close. Here are some tips about scholarships from the University of Idaho:
*Check with your high school counselor about deadline dates for scholarship applications. Some of the scholarships given by local organizations have approaching deadlines.
*Watch for postings about scholarship information in your high school counselor's office.
*Pay attention to small scholarships; they can add up.
*Update your FAFSA application online once you complete your 2007 tax returns.
*Provide copies of your tax returns to the university financial office if requested; this information is needed to help determine the amount of your financial aid award.
*Accept financial aid at more than one institution and then finish making your decision on which college or university to attend. When you’ve made your choice, let all institutions know as soon as possible
Davenport says the University of Idaho is still awarding attractive scholarships under programs such as Go Idaho!, Transfer Idaho and National Merit and encourages prospective students to apply for admission.
