Squeaky Clean: Free Laundry for Residence Hall Students

Aug. 20, 2009

By Tina Deines

MOSCOW, Idaho – Starting this fall, University of Idaho Housing will offer free laundry to its residents. In the past, students either used funds on their Vandal Card or quarters to pay for their laundry.

"We think that students will appreciate this added amenity this fall and hope that it makes their stay in University Housing that much better," said Ray Gasser, director of University Housing.

University Housing now has new front load washers for all of its facilities, which are environmentally friendly and ADA accepted.

Laundry rooms also will be renovated for students, including repainting and addition of folding boards.

The new laundry facelift is just one of many improvements University Housing has made for residents this year. Other additions include microfridges in every residence hall room, a remodeling of the Wallace Residence Center basement and new carpet tile in Theophilus Tower.

"University Housing continuously strives to be the living option of choice for University of Idaho students," Gasser said. "We hope that adding amenities such as these will positively impact residence hall students."
