New Student Enrollment Spring Numbers Increase at University of Idaho

MOSCOW, Idaho—The University of Idaho’s strong reputation in academic excellence continues to attract academically qualified students. The university’s spring enrollment figures, a census taken on the 10th day of the semester, shows a 12.5 percent increase in new undergraduate students and a 13.5 percent increase in new graduate students.

“We are pleased to see the increase in new students,” said Dan Davenport, director of admissions and student financial aid. The overall academic profile of students at the University of Idaho continues to be strong. “Our data also show that students are taking more credit hours, which speaks well of their interest in the university’s rigorous academic offerings.”

Overall, the University of Idaho continues to attract a diverse student body: the number of Hispanic students increased by 3.8 percent, the number of Native American students increased by 4.5 percent and the number of African American students increased by 4.6 percent.

Overall enrollment for the University of Idaho, including the main Moscow campus, as well as campuses in Boise, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho Falls and Twin Falls, for the 10th day was 11, 251, which is higher than expected based upon fall 2006 enrollment.
